What comes down, THE RIVER AT NIGHT?

Freddy Beans here with news on THE RIVER AT NIGHT out of Deadline.

Erica Ferencik’s novel, THE RIVER AT NIGHT, had its screen rights acquired by Miramax.

Writer Kevin Williamson (SCREAM) will shape it into riveting cinema with Eli Roth (CABIN FEVER/HOSTEL) possibly taking the director’s chair.

Williamson and Ben Fast producing through their Outerbanks banner and Roth producing with Robert Birnbaum.  Melanie Toast (SHUT IN) is in talks to write the screenplay.

The book follows Wini, who’s lost her brother recently along with a marriage of 15 years.  So her three best friends decide on a hiking/rafting excursion in the remote Allagash.  They lose their raft and night falls.  Lucky them, a light flickers in the distance and they follow that North star to a camp of helpful folks. Or are they?  This one banded as GIRLS TRIP meets DELIVERANCE should answer any further questions there.

Maybe this will be Eli Roth’s DESCENT?

How many of you will seek out a raft on THE RIVER AT NIGHT?

I’m all kinds of excited about the prospects here, though Eli has been a mixed bag for me as a director.

Til next time Kids
