I have a feeling this is going to get a bunch of folks up in arms. The trailer was a little lackluster for the story at hand. I love Mara Rooney (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO/2011). Joaquin Phoenix (GLADIATOR) always grabs my attention no matter what he’s in. Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 YEARS A SLAVE) is a fantastic actor. There’s a lot going for this, besides it’s one of the oldest stories around.
MARY MAGDALENE follows Mary’s story. Mary was a prostitute that has great significance once she found salvation at Jesus’ feet. She was there when the Roman’s nailed Jesus to the cross. If memory serves, she’s also the first to hear Jesus speak after his resurrection.
I’m a bit afraid the movie ends up more about Jesus. The trailer definitely comes across that way. I love Joaquin but that story has been told countless times. I like the idea of a fresh take/perspective.

What’s your favorite story from the bible? I’ve always been particular to the David and Goliath story. Why hasn’t that been done well before?
