First True Look at SPIRAL, Chris Rock’s Saw Reboot and Prometheus Wants to Play

(From the Book of Saw)

Hey, fellow horror geeks and monsterphiles! Prometheus here with the first teaser for Chris Rock’s reboot of the “Saw” franchise, SPIRAL. (Yes, that Chris Rock.) Not only is Rock executive producer, but he also penned the story and stars in the film!

Also starring in the film is the one and only Samuel L. Jackson. The two of them play detectives, Jackson in what appears to be somewhat of a mentoring role to Rock. Max Minghella plays Rock’s rookie partner and Darren Bousman directs! Click here for full cast and crew!

No one is saying if Tobin Bell’s Jigsaw (or any other form of Jigsaw) will be returning in any capacity, but his symbol, the red swirl, is clearly displayed in the teaser. Two things are clear from the clip; someone is really pissed off at the cops, and they like playing Jigsaw style games. It seems, however, that Samuel L. Jackson does not. Check out the clip and official synopsis for SPIRAL: FROM THE BOOK OF SAW below!

“A sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in SPIRAL, the terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW. Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past.  Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.”

If I’m being honest, I got burnt out on Saw after the third film. Still, this has me intrigued! I can’t wait to see Rock and Jackson together inside the twisted world of Saw. How this all ties into the other films?... We’ll just have to wait and see!

SPIRAL, originally billed as SPIRAL: FROM THE BOOK OF SAW, hits theatres May 15th, 2020!

What do you think out there? Are you excited to see what Chris Rock can do with the horror genre? Or should he stick to comedy? Sound off in the comments below and don’t forget to follow me on Twitter! Until next time, keep on geekin’ on, my friends!
