Over the past few weeks, some films have come out that I know a lot of you out there would like to diss-cus. (See what I did there?) I can't review, hell, I can’t even watch them all, but that doesn’t mean we can’t chat about them! So, let’s flip the tables for a moment. I’m going to let you do the reviewing today! (Just today guys, I like my job.)
ROCKETMAN.
Elton John. What can I say? The man is a legend. I was born in ‘82 but my mother was a pretty big Elton John fan and the song “Candle In the Wind” still brings back early memories of my childhood. I plan on watching this. Should I? My mom enjoyed it. She is also less critical than I. Any Elton John fan’s in the crowd? I want to hear your opinion!
MIB INTERNATIONAL.
I liked the original Men In Black, it was great! I tried watching this one. I gave it a shot. I couldn’t finish it. It seemed forced and unnatural. I like Chris Hemsworth. I actually watched 12 Strong with him recently and he killed it. It was a decent film, too. I also really liked Tessa Thompson in Thor: Ragnarok so, to see them together again was a positive thing for me. It wasn’t enough though. What did you guys think?
X-MEN DARK PHOENIX.
I said I wasn’t going to acknowledge this movie but I see that I must. I doubt I’ll watch it. Sorry. I saw enough in the trailers to know that this movie will INFURIATE me. I love the X-Men. Always have. I collected the comics as a kid and my two favorite storylines were Days of Future Past and The Dark Phoenix Saga. I hated X-3 for the way they made it a subplot in an already convoluted film so, I was excited when I first heard about an actual DARK PHOENIX being made. Sophie Turner can be great at times and maybe she’ll nail it! Then the problems and delays. The nail in the coffin for me though was Jessica Chastain’s amalgamation of a character and the fact that Mastermind and Wolverine are both MIA. No Wolvie, no DARK PHOENIX. And for Christ sakes, read the damn comics, Simon! What did you guys think? Any X-Men fans out there who enjoyed it? Or will it make me as mad as I think?
