Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

Here it is!! Get yer APES ya-ya's here!!

Fox has been kind enough to slap that new PLANET OF THE APES trailer up on the official website for us a whole week before they release it to theaters. That means, of course, it's not attached to FREDDY GOT FINGERED, which Fox released today.
"One day... they'll tell a story... and they'll say it was just a fairy tale... about a human... who came from the stars and changed our world."
Holy cow. Hats off to Fox and Apple for their encoding of the trailer. The High-Res Quicktime version is beautiful to behold. The trailer itself is a class act, from that opening line of narration through to those last shots of the Apes amassing for war, and the film looks like the purest piece of eye candy being offered up this summer. My own interest in the film has grown with each new piece of official imagery from Fox, and I've maintained a decidely "wait-and-see" attitude with the film. I liked the teaser trailer, and this new one shows us a lot more makeup, a lot more of the characters. This thing looks HUGE. One complaint... did you really have to say the phrase "IN A WORLD..." when Mr. Trailer Voice started talking? While Joe Lieberman is busy pretending to be Darth Vader and making up fabulous legislature to regulate movie trailers, maybe he could toss in a clause that penalized anyone who uses "IN A WORLD..." with a really painful torture.
Minor gripe, though. The footage is fascinating. The orangutan is awesome. Helena Bonham Carter's makeup is great in motion, whereas I was never sold on it in the stills. I love Michael Clarke Duncan and Tim Roth in their makeup. They both look amazing. The whole leaping thing... it's gonna bug some people who are tired of actors on wires... but I like the way we see it here. I don't know if I'd call it realistic, but then again... IT'S A MOVIE FULL OF TALKING APES!! Estella Warren... well, boys, I can't think of a better recent use of a fur bikini.
