Jeremy Irons role in HBO's WATCHMEN revealed!

HBO's mysterious sequel to the revolutionary graphic novel WATCHMEN has begun to ramp up production and with that new details are coming to light about what to expect when this ambitious HBO series finally airs sometime next year.

It was reported a while back that Jeremy Irons had joined the cast and that he would be playing an "aging lord of a British manor". Well, according to /Film, it appears that Irons will be playing an elderly version of Adrian Veidt aka Ozymandias! Veidt was the character that set the original Watchmen story into motion with his murder of fellow superhero the Comedian and whose villainous attack on New York that left it devastated but caused the world to unite against a common imaginary foe to bring about peace.

Well, this confirms that the show will move past the events of the original story into new territory with new masked characters. You have to think that if Veidt is slated to appear in the series we will likely see older versions of the other surviving characters from the comic as well. Which is a pretty intriguing idea to me.

What do you guys think? Excited by the potential here or do you wish they would leave well enough alone? Let us know!
