Disney is looking to reboot the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN!

According to Deadline, our new 'Mouse House' overlords at Disney are looking into rebooting the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN franchise.

This seems like a strange move considering that the last film in the current franchise, DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES, was in theaters just last year and made almost $800 million dollars worldwide.

Regardless of those facts, Disney is in early talks with DEADPOOL 1 & 2 scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to write the script for the reboot. The writing duo also penned the script for the ZOMBIELAND. So, the two know how to turn out scripts for successful action comedies.

Early word is that mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer will stay with the franchise but as of right now it is unknown if Johnny Depp will appear as Captain Jack Sparrow - a character who has appeared in all five of the previous films. Considering this is a reboot, you have to think that they will be looking for a new lead though.

What do you guys think? Think this franchise still has potential? Sick of the whole thing? Let us know!
