I’ve seen the first few third-season episodes of “The Good Place”; the series is now set almost entirely on Earth in an alternate timeline running parallel to the first two afterlife-set seasons. The sitcom is different, but I’m not yet convinced it’s as good. But any diminishment in quality may owe less to the premise pivot and more to “Good Place” creator Mike Schur finding himself distracted by his two new NBC projects, the relocated “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and the midseason backyard-tavern comedy “Abby’s.”
