Picture a newly discovered land which holds an elusive fortune. The doors that wealth may open outweigh the well-being of yourself and others. You tell yourself you’re doing this for your family, for a better future. Often the best intentions can have the greatest consequences. PROSPECT is about a father (Jay Duplass) and his daughter (Sophie Thatcher) on a mission to procure riches on a distant moon, where they meet others with like-minded intentions. Only, they’re not so friendly and family oriented. What starts as a treasure hunt quickly becomes a fight for survival.
This is the first full feature film for directors Christopher Caldwell and Zeek Earl, which happened to win the Adam Hornblower Award at SXSW 2018. It has been described as minimalistic Sci-Fi but also rich in the details. The story is reminiscent of our past on earth in which greed makes monsters of men and women are a commodity to be bartered. This film showcases that time may pass but humanity has not learned from their mistakes.
I am enamored by the lush green landscape and the strange flora of this alien moon and can’t wait to get lost in the details of this film. Hopefully, the wait won’t be that long, though there isn’t a release date for the film as of yet. Check out the trailer:
