Fans of THE RITUAL will rejoice as that film’s director David Bruckner’s newest project has been announced: THE NIGHT HOUSE, a supernatural thriller written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, the guys that that wrote Super Dark Times (which I loved). Now, there isn’t much info on the plot as of yet but it has been said to center on a widow who uncovers the many secrets of her deceased beloved. David S. Goyer and Keith Levine from Phantom Four Production Co. will produce and Anton Corp. will finance the project.
I am super excited about this project. David Bruckner’s last film, THE RITUAL, was a particularly grounded and gruesome take on a classic theme; when a group ventures into the unknown, bad things may happen. On holiday, a group stumbles onto a cult of people whose task is to feed a beast in order to survive. That beast happens to survive on human flesh. The theme may not be too original but the beast and the film is truly satisfying to behold. If the supernatural entities for THE NIGHT HOUSE are anything like the beast, I will certainly be pleased.
