We got some news hot off the rumor mill about something that will really rustle some jimmies! Earlier this year, it was announced that Michael Bay was to direct a movie for Netflix titled Six Underground, starring Ryan Reynolds and Dave Franco along with a few other big names. Movieweb claims that there are reports saying that it is a cover up for a live-action THUNDERCATS movie!
This...is very interesting. After the incessant bitching about THUNDERCATS ROAR, perhaps this is what the fans would like instead? Oh wait, straight to Netflix, maybe not. Or was that just a part of the coverup? I think a big live-action THUNDERCATS movie could be something good! But the problem is...Michael Bay. I don’t really want to see over the top explosions with poorly developed characters, but hey, six year olds will. Nothing is for the old school fans anymore.
Apparently there was some talk back in 2012 of Bay being attached to a THUNDERCATS movie before. Eugh. I’m finding reports of a supposed THUNDERCATS movie happening as far back as 2007.
Anyways, so are we going to see a Ryan Reynolds Lion-O? I found an old report from just last year of Milla Jovovich expressing interest in playing Cheetara! That woman is ageless and beautiful.
What do you guys think, does any of this sound like a good idea? I feel like there’s a better fit for Lion-O out there. If they stick with Reynolds...I’m coining the name NOW. RYAN-O.
Update: Oh, and how quickly this rumor was debunked. Apparently there was a mix up with a IGN Middle East report. Both Bay and screenwriter Rhett Reese have denied the rumors.
