Hola Dannie aqui,
Today a massively kickass UK released trailer came out for Hungarian-American filmmaker Nimród Antal's film "The Whiskey Bandit." Antal is the director behind the films "Metallica Through the Never," "Kontroll," "Predators," "Armored," and "Vacancy." Antal not only directed "The Whiskey Bandit" he also penned the script. The film is based on the unbelievable life and crimes of the most infamous whiskey stinking stick-up man in Hungarian history, Attila Ambrus. Challenged with the role of Attila is actor Bence Szalay (the character Gáspár on Hungarian televisions "Barátok közt"), Szalay is joined by cast members György Gazsó ("Sleep Walers" and "Temptations"), Zoltán Schneider ("Budapest Noir" and "Smouldering Cigarette"), Piroska Móga ("Strangled," "Komoly dolgok," and "Aglaya"), and Viktor Klem ("Hacktion").
Signature Entertainment describes the film as-
"A ballad about the eventful life of a Hungarian bank robber, who became a national hero before he turned 30. Attila Ambrus tried all kinds of careers before becoming the country's most famous criminal and was soon confronted with the fact that you only "matter" if you have money. And he had none. When he turned to bank robbery in 1993, public opinion quickly saw him as "the modern-day Robin Hood." He disappeared quickly from each bank raid, leaving only a faint scent of whiskey and so the media quickly christened him as The Whiskey Bandit…"
Here is the thrilling trailer, I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.
From what I hear Attila was a smooth-talking heist man who in the 1990's had an affinity towards drinky whiskey before each "gentleman robbery" he committed throughout the area of Budapest. Attila's reputation spread as a type of "Robin Hood" folk hero, a criminal many in Hungary admired and rooted for. I hope this film is as enthralling as the trailer, and I am praying for something as good as "Stander." "The Whiskey Bandit" premiered at the Warsaw Film Festival last year and played the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival and the Chicago International Film Festival here in the states. It is set for a fall release in the UK, and it hit theaters in Poland on August 3rd and came out in South Korea on August 23rd. Unfortunately, they have not announced an American release yet, and I sincerely want to see this in a cinema packed full of true crime junkies and action addicted cinephiles. What do all of you out there in Geeklandia think of this one?
Stay Strong, Live Good, Love Movies!
