Hey folks, here's a new trailer for WHERE HANDS TOUCH, a World War II film by Amma Asante (A UNITED KINGDOM), starring Amandla Stenberg (EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING), Abby Cornish, George MacKay, and Christopher Ecclestone.
Stenbergs's character, Leyna, is not based on anyone factual, but on the real persecution that took place in Germany for people of mixed color under Nazi rule. There's been some criticism of the film as it involves a coming-of-age love story between Leyna and George MacKay's Lutz (THE SECRET OF MARROWBONE), a Hitler Youth member eager to serve in the military under his father.
While I've always been a bit cynical of 'forbidden love' stories that include a Nazi in the equation, I've been less hard on it since essentially having my heart ripped out by THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS. I'm intrigued by WHERE HANDS TOUCH, and I definitely look forward to seeing Christopher Ecclestone ("Doctor Who") playing Lutz's war-hero father.
WHERE HANDS TOUCH opens September 14th.
