Afternoon, geeks!
Based off of the children’s books “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” by Alvin Schwartz, a movie adaptation by the same title has been in the works since 2013. Guillermo Del Toro just announced on twitter that they are finally about to begin shooting in Toronto.
We start shooting in a few days- in Toronto! https://t.co/u8pCMfjAD1

Originally Del Toro was attached to directed, but eventually left the position (probably because he was too busy with other projects while this one slowly got off the ground), but he’s still on board to produce.
Entertainment One and CBS films teamed up to co-finance the film and saved the project from the recycle bin.
ScreenRant just updated with more news! Zoe Colletti has been cast in the a lead role! And plot details! The premise has been briefly described as ‘a group of teens make deadly mistake on Halloween'. Sounds cliche as heck, but considering the source material, I think it will be a lot more than that. I’m glad that they’re making Halloween movies for kids again. It seems like there was a dry spell for a while. I’m not exactly thrilled with how the GOOSEBUMPS movies turned out, but hey, it’s all in good fun.
Anyways, it took long enough for SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK to get off the ground, so we don’t exactly have a release date yet. We’ll keep you guys posted!
