Word on the street (film street that is.. like Hollywood Boulevard or something) is that Idris Elba (THE WIRE) is in "final negotiations" to play a major part in the FAST AND FURIOUS spin-off starring Dwayne Johnson (THE TOOTH FAIRY) and Jason Statham (CHAOS) tentatively titled HOBBS AND SHAW based on their characters from the series. It's believed Elba will be playing the film's villain, squaring off against the series alumni.
The film is set to be directed by David Leitch (DEADPOOL 2). The script was penned by series mastermind Chris Morgan. It's expected that production will begin this Fall.
