Freddy Beans here with a trailer for Je-Woon Kim’s next one: JIN-ROH: THE WOLF BRIGADE.
Kim is one of the reasons South Korea is on the cinematic landscape along with Joon-Ho Bong, if ya ask me.
JIN-ROH: THE WOLF BRIGADE seems to follow the 1999 anime movie of the same name.
Basic Synopsis: Northern and Southern Korea, agree to a unilateral government. (Finally) Everything goes as smoothly as you’d assume, making the formation of a special police force to combat all the political uprising necessary.
The trailer makes this thing look entertaining as hell, moody, and as deep as Kim’s other works.
Are there any other Kim fans out there?
Most of us in the states probably know him as the director of THE LAST STAND. A decent enough flick, though for whatever reason it didn’t click with me.
THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE WEIRD was another slight misstep for me. It’s a fun movie no doubt, it just never quite reached the heights it was eluding to, for me.
A TALE OF TWO SISTERS is pretty great little dark film I would recommend you view it if you like his other work.
Which brings me back to this trailer, I should have found an English version because I have no idea what’s being said in this trailer. Not that you needed plot as the basic idea is apparent. And clearly our main character will be one of these elite policemen of the future for wedded Korea.
IMDB says this one is out in July yet this is the first I’ve heard of it. Here’s hoping it’s right around the corner, I already need to see this thing.
