OH NO!!! Say it ain't so! Cru Jones doesn't like Chris Rock's DOWN TO EARTH!

Hey folks, Harry here... bored out of his skull... But that's ok... I'm not at Sundance... No parties for me... All work and no play makes Harry a dull boy. heh. heh. heh. But I'm fine, no really. Look... I got me a report on Chris Rock's remake of a Warren Beatty remake of HERE COMES MR JORDAN which was an adaptation of a play and had a sequel as well. I'm really quite pleasant at the moment. Now, never mind that Chris Rock is actually closer to Robert Montgomery than Warren Beatty... but no... maybe... I don't know... Anyway I got them posters of Christ Rock's film and the original Warren Beatty poster.... Sure seems like a lot of old time white people in this new Chris Rock thing.... and what's up with a Laserdisc of it on the streets already.... Wow... Them pirates are good!

Harry, NYU spy Cru Jones here.

I just got back from a screening of the new Chris Rock film, Down to Earth. Now before the film they gave us the usual "this is a work in progress" speech. And thank god, because the editing, picture quality and especially music were horrible. Thank god they arent finished. Not thinking about all that, the remainder of this review will deal with the film itself.

Yeah, this film is bad. For those who dont know the story, Rock dies but is reincarnated as a 50 (yeah RIGHT) year old, rich white man. There are literally 5 funny moments, and all of them take place when we see the white man that Rock is supposed to be, acting like Chris Rock. These are very funny moments, but otherwise we are watching Chris Rock as Chris Rock for the whole time. Sure his stand up is funny, but it can't carry a movie on its own, and believe me it tries.

The main problem though is with how the editing allows for Rock to be on the screen most of the time. Its easy to forget that for 75 percent of the movie, we have to be picturing an over weight white man, and not Chris Rock. When we do picture this, it actually can be quite disturbing.

Overall, I dont know when this film is scheduled for release, and i dont care. There really isnt too much Warner Bros can do to save this film. Its bad on all levels. Unless they cut 50% of their star out of the movie, and give us more of an overweight white man acting like a rapper, this movie is doomed.

This has been Cru Jones riding off into the sunset.
