So is it just me, or are there a lot of movies that are going over the top in NOT a good way? I enjoy a good B movie, where often the films are so bad that they’re good, but this new incarnation of ROBIN HOOD feels like the Zack Snyder’s (300) ROBIN HOOD. Snyder is not involved. In fact, Otto Bathurst of BLACK MIRROR will be directing. You know, the first episode of the entire series “National Anthem” where the Prime Minister was “forced” to have sex with a pig for a whole hour in order to save the Princess? That Otto Bathurst.
Jamie Foxx (DJANGO) is in this though, he’s good about picking his movies, so perhaps the movie is better than the trailer made it out to be! Screenplay is penned by Ben Chandler and David James Kelly.
Also starring in ROBIN HOOD is Taron Egerton and Jamie Dornan.
I will admit that I’m a little disappointed that this isn’t a new MEN IN TIGHTS, but it’s probably one classic that we can rest easy that won’t be remade, and it’s better off that way. Knock on wood.
