Hello all, Mad Dashiell here with Jimmy Screamerclauz today. Thank you for joining us. Jimmy is a filmmaking anomaly that has to be experienced to be described. That may not necessarily be a good thing for you but if art is to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comforted then Mr. Scremerclauz here is doing the great work indeed.
--WARNING!!! This interview is NOT KID FRIENDLY!!! If you are a reader under the age of 18 thank you for joining us and please go to any other article available on the site right now, thank you and now without any further adieu.
MD: So Jimmy, tell us a little about what you do?
JS: I make animated abominations that both disgust and entertain the masses! Then I take a nap.
MD: What do you use to construct your abominations?
JC: A combination of cinema 4d, iclone, perception neuron, adobe suite, unity, mental illness, bad intentions, morbid curiosities and sugary gummy candies.
MD: How long have you been creating your twisted cinema?
JS: I started messing with programs in high school but didn't start taking it "seriously" until around 2007 or so. My first 3d animated release was TAINTED MILK in 2008/2009.
MD: -And how was TAINTED MILK received by audiences?
JS: One time I was at a horror movie convention and I gave a screener DVDr to one of the other filmmakers I was friendly with for a few years, he thought it was "cute" I made my own animated film so he went over to his booth and screened it on a big screen TV. By the end of the short, his face was pure white and he was scrambling to the DVD player trying to rip the disc out before anyone saw what he was watching. He never spoke to me again.
MD: HAHAHA! That's great, so I take that as it had an impact on the audience. You've done a lot of shorts, what can you tell us about them, is there one, in particular, you would like to talk about?
JS: There's a short film a did a couple years ago called RECLUSE, that I think is a good entry point, it's not overly disturbing but enough to hook people in. Most recently I did another music video for my Australian death rap pals Butchers Harem called Snuff Porn Holocaust. It used to be on youtube but the bastards took it down recently. You can still find it if you look hard enough though.
MD: I remember seeing you had an action figure for SNUFF PORN HOLOCAUST(Not an easy name to forget) also, are those still for sale and where can people find videos of your shorts?
JC: My youtube channel is https://www.youtube.com/user/ScreamerClauz or my private website is http://screamerclauz.com where you can buy DVDs and/or piece of my mind! The Hijra the Great Destroyer action figures are made by Cumblood, you can still buy them at: https://snuffmasks.bigcartel.com/

MD: Great, alright let's talk about WHEN BLACKBIRDS FLY your second feature film, what was the genesis of this project?
JS: Oh man, if you want the REAL story, its pretty ridiculous haha. It all started cause I wanted to make a movie about those PEEPS easter candy things where a clan of the rabbits is fighting with a clan of the ducks and the losers have to sacrifice themselves to the giant mouth in the center of town that eats them. Then as I was writing that I started thinking "this is like, good and shit, I shouldn't waste it on peeps!" So I started re-writing it with people instead, but still revolving around the giant mouth that people sacrifice themselves to.
JS -I was also obsessed with vintage religious scare films at the time so I decided to make it black and white and weave in religious overtones. I shifted it into a cult lead by a man named Caine and a flock of blackbirds that were trying to wake people up and lead them outside of town. Then, as I tend to do, I just kept re-writing and re-writing, and re-writing until there was no more giant mouth or pretty much any of other plot points from the Peeps version.
JS -Hell, I could still make that giant mouth movie and nobody would even know they are the same thing! Except that I just typed it and you dicks are reading my thoughts, trying to jack my shit! Now one of you is gonna make it and get rich and I'm gonna be broke and desperate trying to shoot up marijuana in a burger king bathroom with dirty toilet water! so for the love of God, cut me into the profits you greedy piece of shit!!!..... I'm not really even sure who I'm yelling at right now, but I feel better.
MD: How long did it take to do WHEN BLACKBIRDS FLY and how many people helped you animate the film?
JS: It took me about 3 years or so. I did all the animation by myself except for the opening title sequence that M dot Strange helped me out with
MD: Have you collaborated with M dot Strange in the past and on what?
JS: Yeah, we've done a few things together over the years. I did voices in "HEART STRING MARIONETTE & I AM NIGHTMARE", and he did voices in both my feature films. We also used to do a podcast together. There's probably other stuff I'm forgetting, but we still talk a couple times a week so I'm sure there will be more stuff.
MD: Nice, back to When Black Birds Fly how was that received by audiences?
JS: People seem to like it a lot more than Where the Dead Go To Die, but they almost always find WTDGTD first. It didn't quite make the splash I was hoping for and I still struggled to get any screenings or media attention for it. But it was a good stepping stone to the things I want to do next.
MD: So what twisted mayhem are you conjuring up for your fans lately?
JS: I recently finished writing another animated feature film, well its more like 75% animated and 25% live action, so its a little more complicated than my other stuff and I need a like more involvement from other people, which is always a hassle! So I'm TRYING to get that to together, in the meantime I've also been experimenting with shorter stuff but nothing has really grabbed me yet. I really more interested in a getting the feature going!
MD: Any more you can comfortably talk about with us about your new project?
JS: There's not a whole lot to say just yet, but I recently got more into doing both body and facial motion capture and learning new rendering techniques with octane. So I should be able to animate it a lot faster and smoother if I force the actors to do their own mocap. I'm excited about trying all these new things out on a serious level, but I gotta focus on getting a little more money together and roping in more people. Especially given the nightmarish content, it's gonna take a special group of mental deficiency, that's for sure!
MD: I'm sure you'll find a way to spread the madness, alright, so your IMDB boasts a strong 20 credits for composing. Let's talk about that a bit about that, describe your musical process?
JS: I use FL Studio as my main package, then I have a bunch of VSTs and midi controllers, I like the launchpad the best. I've always had a love for industrial and obscure dark electronic music, especially if it's trashy and off-putting! So I use that sort of stuff as an influence.
MD: Cool, let's talk about what inspires you, who are some of the artists you look up to?
JS: In the last few years I started getting really into dark bizarro graphic novels. Stuff by people like Charles Burns, Mat Brinkman, Jim Woodring, Hideshi Hino, Jesse Jacobs, etc. I used a lot of that kind of stuff as my aesthetic reference for the new film.
MD: Awesome, so you are considered a member of the Uberector movement, for those that don't know what that is can you tell us about it and how do you feel about being a member of it?
JS: It was basically a term created by M dot Strange to signify people who created feature-length animated films (mostly) by themselves. There's still only a handful of films that fall into this category. with technology moving the way it is I'm surprised there haven't been more indie animated films, but I guess most people focus on shorter web-based stuff these days.
MD: Alright, well while I still have your ear, are there any films you are looking forward to on the horizon?
JS: Eh, truthfully I'm really out of the loop, i don't really even know whats coming out haha.
MD: HA! Alright, I hear ya, well anything else you might wanna tell the AICN readers?
JS: Don't do drugs, Don't swear, be nice to your family, Stay in school, but bang the hot math teacher while you're still under age, then sue the school for a lot of money, make a movie with the money, bring it to a film festival, sell it to a studio for millions, spend all the money on drugs and prostitutes, get caught in a nasty hollywood sex scandal, eventually end up living under a bridge free basing cat milk, sneak into a crack motel, put a gun in mouth while sitting alone on broken toilet stall, and pull the trigger mid-shit, die as God intended.
MD: Thanks for chewing the rag with me today Jimmy, I look forward to hearing more about your next project.
JS: Thanks, god bless your wretched heart.
MD: Man, I might have to put an adult warning on this interview.
JS: Haha story of my life!
