Hey folks... here's the first image from BLACKKKKLANSMAN, the upcoming Spike Lee joint!
The film stars John David Washington as Ron Stallworth, the real-life cop that the story is about. Stallworth wrote the novel ("Black Klansman") that the screenplay was adapted from, by Lee, David Rabinowitz, Charlie Watchel, and Kevin Willmott.) In the image, Stallworth is marveling at being likely the only black man with his own membership card in the Ku Klux Klan-- signed by David Duke, himself.
BLACKKKKLANSMAN is about Stallworth and a co-worker, Flip Zimmerman (played by Adam Driver) going undercover to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan at a time when they are attempting to take over the town of Colorado Springs, Colorado, during the rise of Duke (played in the movie by Topher Grace, an inspired bit of casting). Using himself as the phone voice and identity, and Zimmerman as the body, Stallworth wound uprising in the ranks of Duke's organization, to the point of actually running the local chapter of the KKK. Stallworth believes that he and his co-conspirator, 'Chuck' (Zimmerman) stopped three cross burnings during their time before their Chief of Police finally made them pull the plug.
