Petition to Cast Meryl Streep as Princess Leia in Star Wars Episode IX!

Hello, Mad Dashiell here and thanks for joining me again. Today we have a force fueled fan that has taken to the internet creating a petition to have the Academy Award-winning actress Meryl Streep replace the dearly beloved role Carrie Fisher immortalized as Leia Organa.

"As the fans of STAR WARS and Carrie Fisher, we really want Leia to shine in Episode IX and we certainly do not want her to be written out of the film abruptly," the petition reads. "Therefore, recasting Leia is a more ideal option for us and we believe that Meryl Streep is an ideal candidate to play Leia."

As of this writing, about 10,259 people have signed to a goal of 11,000. The petition -- "Cast Meryl Streep as Princess Leia in Star Wars Episode IX!" -- was created by a user named:"Chill M." The online petition to cast Streep as Princess Leia in a galaxy far far away is linked here-

Let us not forget these two amazing actresses paths have crossed while working together before. In 1990, Fisher's semi-autobiographical novel came to the big screens POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE. In this Streep played the role of Suzanne Vale, the character based on Carrie Fisher.

Streep's friendship with Fisher and her great performance in "Postcards from the Edge," is what makes Streep ideal to play Princess Leia, this petition argues. The petition is addressed to Lucasfilm, Walt Disney Studios, producer Kathleen Kennedy and Director J.J.Abrams. As of right now, it is still unclear if any of them have seen it. "May the force be with Carrie Fisher, Meryl Streep, and Princess Leia," the petition reads on a final note. At that I'm gonna say thanks for joining me, either pop by and sign away or maybe leave a few reasons why this idea might be killing your soul in the talkbacks feed,

Mad Dashiell signing off.
