Hello all, Mad Dashiell here and thanks for joining me. Let's dive right in. Director Taika Waititi has brought a fresh air and vision to a variety of projects now. His chapter in the MCU with THOR: RAGNAROK was considered successful and even reached out to new audiences bringing them into the Marvel film fold. His next planned film will bring his vampire mock-doc WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS to the big screens. But we're not here to talk about that.
Waititi has just announced Scarlett Johansson will be playing a key role in JOJO RABBIT! This satirical film will be centering on a 10-year-old boy trying to fit in during an increasingly fascistic Germany against the backdrop of World War 2 and he creates an imaginary friend as a result. Johansson will be his mother, who is challenged by the pressures her and her child are facing.
The film sounds different and to me, that is Waititi's strength in his directorial talents. JOJO RABBIT could end up being more controversial than any of his other work prior. Waititi, as he is known for already will also be acting in this one, playing a fantasy version of the führer... Bold move, Chaplin's immortal classic THE GREAT DICTATOR instantly springs to mind.
