Today the folks at Deadline.com broke some news about the upcoming Deadwood film in an interview with Timothy Olyphant otherwise known as the actor who played Seth Bullock! I fell in love with the three seasons HBO produced, and have been jonesing for more far too many years!
I understand the difficulty in getting all of the cast together as many are very busy on projects and, unfortunately, some have passed away (Powers Boothe). This was one of televisions grittiest, bloodiest, and most eloquently written western dramas that have ever graced home screens. Here is the quote released today.
“It’s very hard to get people together for a barbecue that lasts an afternoon, let alone to get everyone together for a production that lasts a month or two,” Olyphant told radio host Rich Eisen in an interview Thursday. (Today)
We should not get too down as we know this project does have financial and creative legs it's really just a matter of scheduling, this is what I am getting from the web word out there.
Not too far back in January Casey Bloys told Deadline.com at the TCA “Assuming that we could get all the actors back together, I think this is something we would do possibly next fall, fall 2018,”
Another thing to rejoice is the fact that the shows creator David Milch has penned the script for the upcoming film, that makes me extremely elated! His work was magnificent, the dialog was intensely intelligent and belligerently balanced like a house of cards it functioned in form and amazed in its perfect existence and complexity.
I will keep my fingers crossed and hope with all my little dark heart for a fall 2018 release. What do y'all think, would you watch a Deadwood film. I sure as fuck would!
