It’s been over TEN YEARS since RUSH HOUR 3 came out in 2007, and there was talk about a 4th even way back when 2 came out. People were pretty tired of the concept by the time 3 came out, but I think it’s been long enough to say to a fourth movie: “You know what, why not?” Jackie Chan and comedian Chris Tucker made a great action comedy duo, and the previous RUSH HOUR movies were a lot of fun!
Tucker was being interviewed on an ESPN podcast called “The Plug”, when he publicly confirmed the fourth film. “It’s definite, it’s happening.” He went on saying “This is going to be the one. The rush of all rushes.”
That last bit has me questioning how serious is is about what he’s sharing.
Tucker adds “Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people won't ever forget this.”
Why do I have a feeling that we’re going to see something horrific in RUSH HOUR 4?
Jackie Chan himself made a recent comeback to U.S. theaters with his film THE FOREIGNER, and he has even more up his sleeve with the sequel to SHANGHAI NOON and SHANGHAI KNIGHTS, SHANGHAI DAWN. It was announced last Summer. I was a huge fan of Jackie Chan between the 90s and the early 2000s, between RUSH HOUR 4 and SHANGHAI DAWN, it feels almost like we’re reliving those days.
The new flick is still in pre-production, and there are no set dates about it just yet.
