Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. While on the stage at Comic-Con's giant Hall H, Ben Affleck took the opportunity to shoot down the scuttlebutt that he's going to be walking away from the role of Batman that's been spreading online the last few days.
"Let me be very clear: Batman is the coolest fucking part of any universe. I'm thrilled to do it," he said.
He also went on to say that he's not pissed off that Matt Reeves is directing the movie instead of him. In fact, he's pumped about it. He said he'd be an ape crawling around on the ground for that dude, let alone getting to play one of the coolest characters ever created for him.
Some of this may be much needed damage control for the studio, but the video I've seen of Affleck talking about this feels genuine. True or not, act or not, the statement is clear: Batfleck is not going anywhere and I'm actually really excited about that.
He's had the bad fortune to make his debut as the character in a weaker, convoluted movie, but he looks great in the part and I can't wait to see what he'd do with a director like Matt Reeves, who above all else knows how to cut to the core of a character and make you feel for them.
