Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Vin Diesel loves him his Facebook page, so it's not surprising he dropped some real big xXx sequel news on it this morning.
Jet Li was locked in to play Xiang, the film's big bad guy, but for reasons unknown he has dropped out (he's notoriously picky, so it's not that big of a surprise). That sucks. But what doesn't suck is that the production actually kinda traded up and got Donnie Yen to replace Li in the role.
Donnie Yen's been a badass as long as I can remember and he's now poised to take over US audiences in a way we've been hoping he would since probably Iron Monkey. He's got this role, which promises to be meaty, and he's part of the ensemble of the first Star Wars standalone flick, Rogue One.
Methinks Xander Cage is in trouble. They're going to have to really handicap Yen to make it believable that Diesel has a shot at taking him down. Just sayin'...
