Go on, press PLAY... This is what I envy. I didn't want to go to set that much. I didn't want to do the junket. The world premiere... Quint's going. All that I want is to be quiet in that room. I've met John WIlliams in the wild once. I was at a screening of Jack Cardiff's GIRL ON A MOTORCYCLE aka NAKED UNDER LEATHER - and he came in and sat down in front of me. At the time, I chatted about his jazzy Johnny Williams days and JOHNNY STACCATO. (You must watch that show)
But watching this report - and seeing the music being recorded... I'm just giddy - Thus far - things seem pretty great. Let's see what happens Tuesday. Tons will see the film Monday, including the Salty Seaman. Then Tuesday there are press screenings all over - even here in Austin. But it's a tiny theater, and not the audience I would prefer to see the film with, so I'm seeing it on the 17th in a marathon of STAR WARS 1,2,3,4,5,6 & 7 at the Alamo Drafthouse here in Austin. And that's exactly how I wanna see it.
As a boy that has obsessed on STAR WARS for a very long time, reading everything... in the long dark spell of no STAR WARS - the BBC Radio shows and Expanded Universe novels kept the dream alive, those painted covers with Luke, Han, Leia, Lando, Chewie, et al... Reading with WIlliams' scores perfectly created the mindspace for our favorite distant galaxy of the past and the adventures that once occurred there. Although the teaser trailer for STAR WARS we had in 16mm promised that "This could all be happening right now!" - and the conflict between that info and the crawl... it had me confused, till Dad explained the light of the galaxies we could see in our Telescope... its ancient. And we started watching COSMOS... and life was and continues to be grand.
Right now, I feel a tad like Wang in an elevator after drinking some powerful potion of Egg Shen! I've got a very positive attitude about this.

How cool is that? I mean - seriously - How much LOVE do you throw in the direction of John Williams. The second Nanotech can - we need to make sure John Williams lives forever - cuz he has too many of our souls captured forever - and we will listen so long as he makes with the music he does like none other.
