Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. If you're going to do a production of William Shakespeare's Macbeth you have a lot of freedom in how you approach the tale of the mad king. You can set it in contemporary times, you can do it with cardboard backdrops or epic Braveheart style... but you can not do it without two fantastic actors in the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.
Every choice that director Justin Kurzel seems to have made for this production of Macbeth seems to be adding up to a spectacular retelling of the story. Michael Fassbender looks delightfully off his rocker and intense as the title character and Marion Cotillard already shines in her brief appearances in the below trailer.
I also love the production value going on here. Kurzel already seems to have a great grasp on tone and how that influences the story he's telling and I'm just looking at a few flashes of scenes!
The nerd in me looks at this trailer and goes "Yeah, I see why this Kurzel guy is doing Assassin's Creed with Fassbender."
Looks pretty damn good, right?
