Tonight’s SNL Vintage is the 21st season finale. Featuring Soundgarden (its only SNL appearance) and Jim Carrey (his first), the episode was broadcast live May 18, 1996. It was the the end of Will Ferrell’s first season and the last episode for David Spade and Steve Carell’s wife Nancy Walls. Norm Macdonald was still impersonating Bob Dole and anchoring Weekend Update. It was the last episode before the very first installment of Saturday TV Funhouse introduced the Ambiguously Gay Duo.
