Stephen King's THE JAUNT Jaunts To The Big Screen!

The Jaunt

Jeremy here...

Stephen King's Serling-esque "The Jaunt" is one of the most memorable short stories from the 1985 collection THE SKELETON CREW. A tale of interplanetary teleportation with horrific consequences if experienced sans anaesthesia, it is, like many of King's short stories, the kind of premise one would like to see fleshed out. So it's not a surprise to learn that Brad Pitt's Plan B Pictures has just optioned the yarn - for $1, of course - from King.

What will they make of it? That they've in talks with MAMA filmmakers Andy and Barbara Muschetti suggests that they'll retain the story's horrific elements (which you really should read; I'm not spoiling it here), but until a writer is attached, it's hard to say. The Muschettis wrote MAMA with Neil Cross, which, in my opinion, didn't work out that well. Hopefully Plan B will find someone with a stronger sense of narrative than the Muschettis and Cross displayed on their last film.
