Greetings, all. Ambush Bug here. Sneaking into theaters in between all of the transforming robots and talking apes this summer is DELIVER US FROM EVIL. Starring Eric Bana, Olivia Munn, Edgar Ramirez, Sean Harris and Joel McHale, the film is directed by Scott Derrickson and executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Here’s the official synopsis;
In DELIVER US FROM EVIL, New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramírez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. Inspired by the book, which details Sarchie’s bone-chilling real-life cases.
Personally, I’d rather check this out than any new Michael Bay bastardization of toys I played with as a kid. Of course, I’ll be seeing DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, but if I’m in the mood for a double feature next week, DELIVER US FROM EVIL will be the second one I check out for sure.
