Hey folks, Harry here with a look at BRUISER, the George Romero film that DOES NOT HAVE DISTRIBUTION AND FUCKING HALLOWEEN IS COMING AND THIS MOVIE SHOULD BE RELEASED AROUND HALLOWEEN YOU MORONS AND GET YOUR ASS IN GEAR AND GET ME MY ROMERO FILM IN A THEATER NEAR ME THIS OCTOBER, and our agent, Mr Marks is telling us all about this Romero film which apparently is being conspired against being released.... sigh.... sigh..... hint hint hint... We've had a few people write in... mostly positive.... what's the problem?
I saw a screening of "Bruiser", George Romero's lastest in Chicago last night... George Romero attended and fielded questions from the floor afterwords. The movie itself was pretty entertaining, but it had it's faults. It is about a guy who is really submissive and gets shit on a lot. He is pretty successfull in life but seems to have reached a place where he is not happy. His wife hates him, his boss abuses him, his friends cheat him.... Get the setup? Then a la George Romero, all hell breaks loose. The movie is pretty bloodless, but is kinda violent, and lots of fun. The deeper stuff doesn't always work in the film and it is very obvious that Romero is trying to make a point about some things and it gets a bit heavy handed. There is a really great scene at a large party where The Misfits play, and visually is the highlight of the film.
Afterwords Romero said he has just gotten a finalized script of a new King film that he is going to make next, "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon". That is going to be his next project. He also said that he has started writing a 4th dead movie and he hopes that it will all come together. He said that there are so many hand in the pie that he just wasn't sure if it was going to happen but was hopefull. He also said that Day of the Dead was his favorite of the 3 films, that it was originally a much better movie but he needed 7million to shoot it and that his budget was only 3 million so he decided to rewrite it (Day of the Dead). He also said he was frustrated that he hasn't been able to work over the last few years but since he had so many production deals (that went nowhere however) that they were actually the highest earning years of his life.
Anyways... Take care!
