a paperweight egg, and a bonus disc of the first episode of season 2. Would have expected something that big for a Complete Series (down the road), or at the very least, the first two seasons. A whole lot of packaging that doesn't offer anything new (or am I wrong in thinking the egg was in some previous collection release). Sure, he bonus disc is new (I believe) but let's face it, it is kind of useless. Who buying this set wants one episode of a season they will be able to get the entire season of soon after it goes on sale (if not before - when does season 2 hit Blu?)? Obviously if it was the first episode of season 3, a sneak peak at the third season a few months before that season began, that would be worth getting. But an extra disc that will soon become a redundant possession is just a waste. Kind of like those Star Trek Fan Picked episodes DVD collections from a few years ago that would include some of the same episodes in different collections (and often they were two part episodes). I may be something of a completionist, in that I want to get them all, but I abhor redundancy especially when other similarly-themed episodes were left out of the collections in favour of these double-dips.

I'll wait until the price drops or there's an Amazon Lightning Deal, but that set is as good as bought and sitting in my collection.

And I don't even like most of those films. But, I love the Box Art portraits. In a review on Amazon, someone said that each disc begins with an advertisement of J.J.'s Nu-Trek. Can anyone confirm that for me? That could get old, real quick.

Truth. The ads are a pain in the asshole. The films are ok at best. They aren't the cleaned up Director's Edition versions that were released on DVD. They're the original grainy spotty theatrical prints. Mostly hurtful to STTMP. I was disappointed in this buy.

Why did they even need to do that? Baldwin was as good-looking as he ever was circa The Hunt For Red October. I can understand an aging actor wanting to look younger, but Baldwin was, what, 30 when he made that movie?

Doubtful they'd go to the expense of making such a slight change. Seems to me to be nothing more than a repackaging of stuff already available and one not yet available episode on a very soon to be redundantly useless disc.

That Game of Thrones (region free) set can be had for about US$49 plus postage on UK Amazon. Good thing with UK Amazon if its an international order the tax is taken off. Same for the Harry Potter Wizards Collection (off topic I know). Thats like US$230 instead of $330 on Amazon UK. Just goes to show how much you can save by shopping else where.

The version on streaming site are already changed. Waste of fucking money. Nobody even noticed until like 4 months after that commentary was released. Reactionary asshats taking money away from an already expensive production to correct something that wasn't remotely bothersome.

I despise advertisements on DVDs I buy. I can barely tolerate them on stuff I rent, but there at least they make sense. Plus, having Abrams Schlock Trek shoved in my face each time before I watch an Original Series movie just seems like unnecessary torture and frankly a slap in the face to a Trekkie.
