Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
Man, they don’t make ‘em like Kirk Douglas anymore. I mean, Kirk kinda made ‘em like him when he sired Michael, but you know what I mean. Now there was a leading man. Stoic, tough, vulnerable… the dude had it all and could play just about anything. This man was Spartacus for Kubrick and a singing sailor for Disney.
Today we have a shot of Kirk funning around on the set of John Sturges’s Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, a rather good Earp/Holliday flick starring Douglas and Burt Lancaster. It’d make a helluva double bill with Tombstone. If you haven’t seen it you should seek it out… not only does it have the two aforementioned brilliant leading men, it also has a supporting cast that’s out of this world with folks like Dennis Hopper, DeForest Kelley and John Ireland.
Thanks to Rene for passing this one along.

Tomorrow’s pic features a very young A-lister slumming it in horror.
