The Writer and Director of DAREDEVIL revealed

Hey folks, Harry here. Well it seems that Sony has tapped the writer and director of the DAREDEVIL feature film that they have been fast tracking ever since acquiring the properties.

Moriarty and I have been tracking the DAREDEVIL project for quite some time now... and actually I've been tracking DAREDEVIL as a property for the better part of 4 years now.

Originally the film was in the hands of Carlo Carlei and Chris Columbus. For which they turned in an excellent screenplay... but for one reason or another the film just kept hitting stumbling blocks. Much like the troubled history of all of Marvel's film properties. Then, Kevin Smith and Robert Rodriguez were interested in the material with Kevin wanting to write the screenplay with Robert directing and possibly Matt Damon starring... but this never really developed beyond one of those pie-in-the-sky scenarios.

Then SONY got the property and then began to instantly put it in a fast track development slate. They went out to many people and most recently it was between Chris Columbus, Steve Norrington and Mark Steven Johnson.

And, about two days ago Sony finally nailed it down to Mark Steven Johnson. Yup, the same guy that wrote and directed SIMON BIRCH and also wrote those GRUMPY OLD MEN movies, JACK FROST (note, his script should not be confused with the piece of shit movie... they were... very very different) and the upcoming Keanu fest... THE REPLACEMENTS.

While perhaps not being the most obvious choice in the world for directing DAREDEVIL and writing it, I have heard from folks at Sony that have met with Mark, that he is beyond feverish fanaticism concerning this film... and it should also be noted that he was at one point tapped or online to rewrite the Chris Columbus/Carlei draft of the film.

Word has it that we will be getting a 20 questions with Mark about DAREDEVIL and the direction he plans on taking it... but then Moriarty is currently handling those arrangements. Though from what I can tell, Mark is pretty tough to reach.

I happen to be one of those people that loved SIMON BIRCH almost as much as I loved THE MIGHTY, so personally I'm a bit happy to see the property in someone's hands that isn't just an action type of guy. And that's the latest concerning ol horn head.
