Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.
Once again, I'm taking my actual job title, Midwest/Chicago Editor, seriously and extending screening opportunities outside of Chicagoland. And if I weren't already committed to hopping on a plane this coming Thursday bound for Austin and BNAT 1138, I'd be driving up to join my neighbors to the north in Milwaukee for this event, because this movie is worth it.
Back in March, I saw Broken Lizard's latest comedy opus, THE SLAMMIN' SALMON, and fucking loved it. I'm not sure why it didn't get picked up by a studio, but God bless Anchor Bay for getting into a few theaters before its DVD release, and letting people have the shared experience of watching it on the big screen with a couple hundred fellow giggling maniacs. The film is about a Miami restaurant owner who is up to his eye holes is debt to the mob, and needs his establishment to earn more money in one night than it ever has to pay it off, so he holds a contest among the waiters to see who can get the most in tips, thus pitting waiter against waiter. The movie has a ton of great cameos, and all the Lizard guys are a scream. This might actually be my favorite of their films, which include SUPER TROOPERS, CLUB DREAD, PUDDLE CRUISER, and BEERFEST.
I've got 25 admit-two passes (or 50 seats) for a screening of Broken Lizard's THE SLAMMIN' SALMON on Thursday, December 10 at 7:00pm, at the AMC Mayfair Mall, 2500 Mayfair Road in Milwaukee. Here's how to claim a ticket good for you and a guest:
Send me an email at therealcapone@aintitcoolmail.com with the subject line "SLAM MY SALMON!" In the body of the email, I need your Name, whether or not you're bringing a Guest (guests' names are not required), and the answer to the following question (read carefully): "What lengths would you go to earn a whole lot of money in one day?" Simple enough, right? I need an actual scheme that would try, or maybe you have tried. Please keep all answers to less than 75 words, no matter how tempted you are to write more.
Winners will receive an email soon, and I'll post the winners' names on the site. Good luck, Milwaukee! Let me know how things go.
