Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. We all knew this was coming. The powers that be have been determined to remake THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY for years. Jim Carrey, Owen Wilson and Eddie Murphy have been attached in the past, but now Danny Kaye's empty shoes will be filled by Mike Myers.
I love the original. If you haven't seen it, be sure to check it out. Danny Kaye plays a weakling with a powerful imagination. He uses it to escape his mundane life and imagines himself as a hero in different situations. Of course, an opportunity presents itself and he finds out what it's really like to be a hero.
Myers isn't my ideal choice, but he can do it well if he plays it real. If he doesn't mug for the camera and is able to bring even a little bit of Kaye's effortless aloofness to the new version of the story, then it could work out. I know he can play reality (54), but if he CAT IN THE HAT's this it'll be a disaster.
