In a land far far away, John Williams...

Ya know folks... Right now.... across an ocean from where I am... On the very same ground that you folks with the UK in their email address live. Right now... John Williams is conducting STAR WARS music that we don't know.

It's now only 94 days till the film is released. By the time that count hits 80 days... all the new music for EPISODE ONE will be played... Existing on discs that we all would do many illegal things to attain. Is there one ounce of known music in the score? After the 20th Century Fox Fanfare... what will we hear? As that crawl comes up what do we hear? As it teeters away and the inevitable pan down occurs will it be foreboding music?

I really have to say, that of any aspect of the film, John Williams' new score is the aspect I am most anticipating to reduce me to a slimy mudhole. The thought of hearing it sends shivers through my jello body.

Right now, there are people pressing their lips to mouthpieces, cupping their hands in the bell of a french horn and playing notes that will KILL you. Fine strong fingers are tapping notes upon a bridge of a violin, and the strong pounding of a kettle drum exists. And while they play...

Behind them, behind all those musicians, upon a screen facing John Williams is THE PHANTOM MENACE. The film playing out with live musical accompanyment. Can you imagine? The sheer level of joy of being in that room, with those images and that music playing. It would KILL me. Hell, I'm excited that it just exists out there in the grand scope of things. But someone is living it. What I wouldn't give to be that someone.... How about you? I mean wouldn't that be just about the coolest thing you could think of?

There is music that is being recorded that we will all dream to. Music that will drive us to work, that will make us react to unseen images while playing air hockey. Will the soundtrack be released before the film? I hope so... wouldn't it be grand to wait in line for days, with tons of batteries and your trusty CD portable player keeping you company? Huh huh huh... cool....
