Phillip Noyce's South African thriller HOT STUFF gets a distributor!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little news on Phillip Noyce's (PATRIOT GAMES, RABBIT-PROOF FENCE) next flick HOT STUFF, a thriller set in South Africa (seemingly the new it location for political thrillers). The film has officially been picked up by Universal's Focus Features for US distribution. Good news for Noyce fans! Whether his films are perfect or flawed he always seems to make something interesting... Hell, I even liked BONE COLLECTOR! Here's Hollywood Reporter's announcement!

Focus Features will provide the domestic release for Phillip Noyce's "Hot Stuff," a political thriller filming in South Africa. From production company Working Title, Universal Pictures will bow the film internationally. Based on the real-life story of Patrick Chamusso, the film takes place in South Africa, spanning from the 1980s to present day. Derek Luke ("Friday Night Lights") plays Chamusso, an apolitical oil refinery employee and soccer player who after he and his wife are brutalized by government-sanctioned terror squads, is shocked into action. Tim Robbins co-stars as policeman Nic Vos, and Bonnie Mbuli plays Chamusso's wife.
