Here's a quote from Steven Spielberg about George Lucas' upcoming Episode One. Now I know this isn't the most earth shattering news on the planet, but for some reason Spielberg saying, "Oh, my God!" in reference to the quality of Lucas' flick... well it's just, those are the three words I would love to have as the first three words of my review come next May. If there are three words that are suppose to describe the reaction one should have seeing this film, "Oh, My God," are those three words. With all the talks of goofy stuff and worries over this and that, all I want to hear from someone like Spielberg is... "Oh, my God." So let those be the three words you hold in your brain until the curtains part and the music swells. When your heart races and the tears fall, and the words on your lips will be, "Oh... my God!" remember a dream is a wish your heart makes.....
I don't know if anyone has alerted you to a quote which appeared in the Thursday, July 16,1998 Chicago Sun-Times. The article is made up from selected snippets of quotes from Hollywood types coming through the Windy City to push their new movies. The first section of the article was on Steven Spielberg talking about Saving Private Ryan. The part which caught my eye reads:
ASKING II: Of course, there are certain perks to being Spielberg. He is one of the few who have seen footage of best friend George Lucas' upcoming "Star Wars" prequel, due out next summer. "Here's my quote and quote me exactly: 'Oh, my God!'" said Spielberg of his reaction. "Let me just put it this way, I wouldn't want to be a guy opening a movie against him."
