Yesterday Walt Disney Studios released a TV spot they are calling "Within" for their upcoming live-action reboot of "ALADDIN." Guy Ritchie ("Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels," "Snatch," and "Revolver") is (a surprising choice for Disney) director of "ALADDIN." Ritchie sat down with writer John August ("Frankenweenie," "Dark Shadows," "The Nines," "Corpse Bride," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Big Fish," and "Go" from 1999) to pen the script for the rebooted "ALADDIN."
Walt Disney Studios describes their live-action "ALADDIN" as-
"A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, “Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future."
The new "ALADDIN" stars Will Smith as the Genie ("The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "I Am Legend," the "Bad Boys" films, "Men In Black 1 & 2," "Independence Day," "Bright," and "Suicide Squad"), Mena Massoud as Aladdin ("Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan," "Open Heart," and "Masters In Crime"), Naomi Scott ("Power Rangers," "The 33," and "Terra Nova") as Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari ("What Happened to Monday," 2016's "Ben-Hur," and "Wolf") as Jafar, Navid Negahban ("12 Strong," "Homeland," "Charlie Wilson's War," TV's "Legion") as the Sultan, Nasim Pedrad ("No Strings Attached" and "Cooties") as Dalia, and Billy Magnussen ("Into The Woods," "The Big Short," "Game Night," and "Bridge of Spies") as Prince Anders.
Well, what do all of you cyber genies think of the TV clip? What are your thoughts so far on the new "ALADDIN" film? I have to say visually it looks beautiful, however, no one will ever compare to Robin Williams' genie in my mind.
