Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu Off THE JUNGLE BOOK!

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

Quick update on THE JUNGLE BOOK front. Warner Bros. and Disney are all set to duke it out over opposing adaptations of Rudyard Kipling's THE JUNGLE BOOK, but for the time being, it looks like Disney might be ahead.

Last month, we learned that WB was in talked with BABEL director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu to direct their film, which would have been a really interesting choice. Now, Deadline is reporting that he is stepping away from the project due to scheduling issues, which leaves the WB production scrambling for a new director. The script was written by Callie Kloves, who is also producing.

Disney, if you recall, has secured Jon Favreau for their production, which they are aiming to release in October of 2015. WB will, no doubt, be looking to fill the director's spot quickly in order to get their project under way.
