Aja promises "3-D double-D boobs" along with generous helpings of bloody violence. [EDIT] "The biggest thing for the fans is going to be the big spring-break wet T-shirt contest, where we have thousands of spring-break groups on the water," Aja revealed. "And the party has its climax when the piranhas come and start attacking everyone. It's almost 25 minutes of a huge massacre, and it's really insane." That's a pretty serious amount of time for a piranha massacre, but it's definitely true to the pulp roots of the original "Piranha." [EDIT] Aja was ultimately sold on doing a conversion after seeing some test reels that included footage from "Star Wars" and "Titanic." That said, the movie will feature some true 3-D as opposed to converted scenes. "All of our piranha are CG [and] they are all real 3-D in the computer. Our movie is going to be completely converted, but a big chunk of it will be real 3-D as well."...says Alexandre HERE. In case you missed some icky photos from the set of PIRANHA 3D, you can find 'em HERE. Any Powers That Be involved with this film should go see CLASH OF THE TITANS in 3D before kicking PIRANHA onto screens; there's much to be learned from mistakes made during the conversion of CLASH. PIRANHA opens late Summer...there's still time!

The first cinema 3D tittays need to be is super-real 3D.

Once I heard that, I lost interest. I refuse to watch genre films anymore until they stop using CG in everything.

The trailer I saw in front of Avatar made this 3D harken back to the day I saw Jaws 3D. Terrible.
March 31, 2010, 1:04 p.m. CST
crappy movies in crappy 3D. How did no one realize that taking a regular movie and converting it into 3D would be a good idea. Have you seen the commercials for Clash of the Titans where they say, "Also playing in 2D" like we all expect it to be in 2D and it is a surprise it is in 2D. Fuck.
March 31, 2010, 1:09 p.m. CST
I've always had a tender spot in me heart for them boob-chomping piranhas.

For every single incarnation....not sure what rereleasing it in theaters is supposed to accomplish. I don't care how many D's it has after it, that's one piece of shit fucking movie.

Too bad because the idea of Jaws in an underwater park chomping on people is pretty cool. It was horrendously executed however.

The only part of that movie that feels cool is when those people are stuck in that tube and Jaws is swimming towards them. Unfortunately Jaws looks like a cutout paper doll in that shot and all he does is bump the tube, it springs a leak and they get away.

Jaws should have smashed open the tube and started eating people a la the end of the first movie on the boat. Now THAT would have been some shit!

I thought that was the whole point! I didn't know only part of it was real 3-D and the rest was converted. That kind of sucks. It sounds like fun anyway, but I'd hate to sit through 50 or 60 minutes of eye strain just to get 20 or 30 minutes of good 3-D.
March 31, 2010, 1:40 p.m. CST
How fucking long are they goign to wait? Universal can't seem to get a hit for the last several years. You'd think with a massive tentpole blockbuster like Jaws in their canon they'd be trying to resurrect it. God knows we could have one fucking amazing Jaws movie with today's technology!
March 31, 2010, 1:42 p.m. CST
I'm still waiting for that MEG adaptation.
March 31, 2010, 1:47 p.m. CST
Man I would love to write a remake of Jaws. YES I JUST SAID THAT! The reason it should be a remake instead of a sequel is because the mythology got really fucked up, especially for the last two movies. Plus the technology is VASTLY superior to the rubber shark they had previously. As much as I love Bruce and think he was a miraculous machine, going for a sequel and expecting peopel to match a realistic CGI shark with him just wouldn't work. Best to start fresh.
March 31, 2010, 1:49 p.m. CST
Who knows, maybe Disney will dust off that project if Piranha does massive bucks, however unlikely that is.
March 31, 2010, 2:36 p.m. CST
The one time Joe Dante project, that fell apart, so he went to make The Howling? Is it as National Lampoonish as it sounds? Where are the Zuckers when you need them?
And I thought filmmakers were going to embrace 3D to add depth of field and spatial relation to the screen, not more "comin' atcha". Somewhere William Castle is having a giant laugh.

. . . trailer before Avatr looked like SHIT. Not so-bad-its-funny, just plain BAD. And I was dumb enough to kind of have high hopes for it til then. I absolutely love Dante's original Pirhana.
March 31, 2010, 2:45 p.m. CST
shouldn't they be TRIPLE-D boobs?
March 31, 2010, 2:46 p.m. CST
at the box office could well be this one. Titans will make its money from the halo effect of Avatar and (to a lesser extent) Alice In Wonderland. Once two or three 3D movies bomb that will pretty much be the end of this stoooopid gimmick.

Piranha sounds like it's going to be a blast (with a few geeky nods to Joe Dante's original)I hope the current Clash 3D travesty ends the run of post-Avatar band wagon conversions, if there's no QA there; it'll kill of 3D quicker than Jaws3!
March 31, 2010, 5:43 p.m. CST
....as Warner's did when they opted for that crappy 'cheap 'n' fast' process by that PrimeFocus twat Chris Bond!
If I want 3D boobs, I'll opt for the REAL thing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeOm-V6GJ7w
I'll be seeing 'CLASH' in 2D, and after catching the risible 'PIRAHNA' trailer, I'll be giving that a MISS!....and I happen to LOVE 3D.
....but only if it's done with care.

and the demo of Monsters Vs Aliens looked very sweet. But I felt ridiculous wearing the glasses for more than a couple of minutes. I hope the 3D TV craze dies out faster than the 3D movie craze.
March 31, 2010, 6:58 p.m. CST
....I predict the 3D tv thing is gonna be a winner eventually....since you won't be wearing the glasses with 'other shoppers' around you at the time. I presume you'll be watching your 3D tv in the private comfort of your own home, rather than a store!
March 31, 2010, 7:25 p.m. CST
I suggest anyone excited by this movie spend some time trying to see real boobs instead.
