Behold The Gnarly Magnificence Of PIRANHA 3-D!!

Harry knew that I'd love waking up to an Inbox load of meaty, savagely dismembered corpses floating in blood-stained pools of gunk that used to be people. And, he was right! So now that I'm in a good mood, I'll share the NSFW love with you, our dear readers.
Below you'll find set photographs from Alexandre Aja's PIRANHA 3-D, which features the Geektastic cast of Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Jerry O'Connell, Richard Dreyfuss, and a newly de-Urchined Eli Roth.
James Cameron directed (depending on who you talk to) a previous installment of this venerable franchise: PIRANHA II: THE SPAWNING. In later interviews, Cameron asserted that P2 is:
"...the finest flying piranha movie ever made."

Luckily for the effects guys, given the somewhat weighty/gravity influenced nature of the above titage, these are real tits; and therefore they didnt have to design a way to show an all to common implant poping out.

Never really been a horror fan as such but I've always admired the skill that goes into their creation, make-up, SFX and that sort of gunk. It looks like a lovely bloody mess.

Laughs were had. The blockbuster guy kept telling my friend and I, "I can't believe you guys are renting Piranah 2: The Spawning". He made sure to say the entire title name whenever he spoke of the movie. Good times.

It looks like people on set were having lots of fun with their dismembered selves, too. I just hope this isn't one of those FROM HELL situations where the great gore and models ends up never appearing on-screen. If like this stuff check out the doc on the X-FILES I WANT TO BELIEVE disc about the guy who makes the models, it's a hoot.

Had I not already seen the trailer before Avatar. Looked really really bad. The scene w/ Ving Rhames shoving an outboard motor into the camera induced many moans. At best it'll be another Anaconda. At worst, another Snakes on a Plane.

and the movie looks really cheeseball tongue in cheek horror, and not in a good way, like it's trying to be camp horror and failing. The 3D is really in your face and very gimmicky. I was hoping for a straight horror movie with killer piranah, the trailer plays like Scary Movie.

...but this is what I'd imagine that they would look like. Good work by the special effects people. The non-ravaged body parts attached to the piranha-ravaged parts look very realistic. That's what really makes the look work. Great work by the effects people!

I expected an in-your-face 3D SHLOCKER out of this, and I even expected this to make Joe Dante's original look like a masterwork....but what I DIDN'T expect was 'Jurrasic Park' prehistoric-looking Pirahnas!They blow! Real-life Pirahnas look far scarier than these, and Joe Dante's designs looked far superior.In my humble opinion, this movie is going to be worse than I thought....which is a pity, considering I like the cast so much.

Thank God we still have a drive-in in Atlanta, or I'd pass on this, but no matter how big a suckfest it may be, this has drive-in party written all over it. I'm there with a case of beer, lawn chairs, 'party favors', and about six other loaded happy people.

IMHO I think it's better then Craven's original and the only remake I've seen in the last ten years that had any real quality to it.

a month or so ago. I enjoyed it, reminded me of a good 80's schlocky horror. The effects weren't done at all, and you saw rudimentary cgi fish. Of course it wasnt in 3-D either. But there was plenty of gore and gruesome deaths. I think it will be a fun crowd pleaser when it comes out. If you like imaginative deaths and gore, this one will be worth seeing in 3-D. Plus lots of gratuitous 3-d boobs, from what I gather of the footage. I just read elsewhere that it got pushed back to august and that it may only come out in 2-D, which is a shame.

Saw a FREE screening at the DGA, which are usually packed, but only about 15 people showed up, and half of them walked out after 20 minutes. Wish I had been one of them.
