UPDATED!! Help Merrick Decide Whether Or Not To Dump Time Warner Cable!! TWC -vs- ATT U-Verse??

Merrick here...
Over on Harry's diatribe, Talkbacker D.Vader called our attention to an article which indicates HD Net and HD Net Movies are being dropped from Time Warner systems across the country. In the article, which can be found HERE, Time Warner Cable director of corporate public relations Robyn Watson says, "There's a limited appeal for the programming. In a world with more than 100 HD channels, being in HD is not enough. We are adding other channels in HD to give our customers more choice." This is particularly interesting because, when I called my local Time Warner offices to bitch about HD Net Movies going away, I was told...in no uncertain terms...that "HD Net decided not to renew its contract with Time Warner." Sounds to me like TWC not only decided to purge HD Net Movies, but also made them the fall guy!!!

Merrick here...
As Harry has already indicated in his properly terse missive (HERE), Time Warner Cable in Austin has dumped HD Net Movies (HERE) from its line-up. For those unfamiliar with the network, they show theatrical films...unfettered by commercial interruption...in HD. More consequentially, however, is that many of the films broadcast by HD Net Movies are not yet released (or are only recently released) on Blu-Ray, etc. EXCALIBUR...Kaufman's INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS and THE RIGHT STUFF have recently aired. This week: TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE and Ridley Scott's LEGEND. There are many, many more examples of this. HD Net Movies was my most watched, most enjoyed, most recorded channel. Now it's gone from (at least) our local line-up. I liked the network so much I'm strongly considering dumping Time Warner Cable to jump to another service which carries HD Net Movies. I haven't had the best of luck with satellite in the past (Direct TV), and I've come across wildly varying reports regarding ATT U-verse. As such, I'm turning to you...faithful, knowledgeable Talkbackers...to offer your opinions and experience on which service might be best for me to try out. In my area, only U-verse (I've confirmed I can at least get it), TWC, and the satellite services are options. I am an HD junky, and am very concerned about which service offers the best overall picture quality. Frustratingly, from what research I've done, this seems to vary depending on your location. I want high-return, low-maintenance performance here. Is it true that U-verse only supports one HD signal coming into the house at any time? This might be a problem. Some people complain that U-verse pixelates when images show a high rate of motion - which sucks, but my Time Warner does this too so I can't complain too much. I hear that U-verse sometimes "hiccups" or glitches. Sometimes my Time Warner freezes in place and I have to reboot the whole damn thing, so... PLEASE share with me your experience, your perceptions, and any details that might help (and others like me) me make a learned and rational decision in the Talkbacks below. I will not be able to address every response individually, but I will read all responses. Above all, THANK YOU, VERY MUCH, IN ADVANCE!!!
