Wanna Know When The Next SPIDER-MAN Movie(s?) Should Be Coming Our Way??
Merrick here...
Further evidence the mighty Sony machine is lumbering into motion on another SPIDER-MAN film (or more).
This comes from IESB's recent interview with Marvel Vice Chairman Peter Cuneo.
Cuneo said the following, "As far as Spider-man 4, it's really up to Sony and it up to them, most likely scenario is 2010 or 2011
...says THIS ARTICLE at IESB, which goes on to discuss Sony's re-up payment to Marvel, and more.
Last week there was word that SPIDER-MAN 4 & 5 might shoot simultaneously. More details about this can be found HERE!
A SPIDEY release in 2010 or 2011 could drop it into the market with Marvel's intended IRON MAN sequel and/or their AVENGERS project.

BOOYAH!

Almost. Damn you TommyShag! lol
-
4th ain't so bad...
-
just take out the hyphen. or put him in the black suiDAMN!
-
... and continue building the New Avengers instead of the much anticipated Ultimates? I'm thinking the movie might be recasting all main characters and that Raimi won't be coming back. I'd like seeing the Kraven story, plus Sandman back (the ONLY great thing in Spidey 3) and Dr. Connors finally becoming the Lizzard.
-
Starts with a dazed Parker waking up and realising all that shit acting and soap-opera dialogue and 30 second Venom nonsense was all a bad dream, it'll be great.
-
about the runaways movie.
-
If there's any justice in the universe, let this be better than SPIDER-MAN 3.

Wanna Know When The Next SPIDER-MAN Movie(s?) Should Be Coming O
by deathstar73
Not particularly.
-
after SP4, we need a reboot. 2011 sounds like a good time for that. Just enough time to wash the stink off the last one. How could 1 and 2 be so good, and 3 be a sobbing shitfest?
-
I was gonna do that...
-
is a fucking moron. get nolan or spielberg to do it.
-
I can't believe some people don't like Spidey 3. OK, there were too many characters and storylines crammed in, but it was still a much better film than Spidey 1. Compare the lame, lame, lame Goblin costume to the awesome-looking Sandman and Venom. Both those characters didn't have enough screentime to really develop, but they looked great, and their respective origin sequences were spectacular. I think the first film is overated. The sequels both had better stories, action and villains. Also, they had the advantage that we knew not to expect Maguire's Peter to be like the comics' Peter (post-Ditko anyway). Talking of which, yes, a recasting would be welcome for Spidey. I'm very happy with Jackman, Bale, Routh and Downey, but a less-nerdy Spidey would be nice.
-
What I find actually more interesting is that IESB also has an article on there about how Marvel Studios is not going to make any R rated movies, which is a mistake in my opinion. I think "Cloak & Dagger" and "Terror, Inc." and "Foolkiller" would be great movies for Marvel Studios to make and I think they would be best served as R rated. Not to say that none of their characters will be given R ratings, like the Blade and PUnisher movies. They said that if they are, they'll do them through another studio.
-
That movie was so over rated it wasn't even funny. No thanks, I think I'll pass.
-
I'm tired of the Sony Spider-man franchise. I'd rather see what Marvel Studios could do with Spider-man.
-
Better costumes does not equal better villains. It was extremely weak that they made Sandman Uncle Ben's killer. Why make the change to try and force a connection between the two?Venom, whether people like him or not, was just forced in there. That's been beaten to death."Bad" Pete was some of the most cringe-inducing moments in superhero film. Ghostrider type bad.Too much fucking crying. What the hell? The good - I really enjoyed the Harry vs. Pete fight in the apartment. Not sure how the story in 3 is better than 1.
-
you want a less nerdy spidey, but you liked the 3r movie? "dark" Parker was aaaawwwwwwfuuuuulll to watch. like, prequel Anakin bad. i was so embarrassed for Raimi and Maguire and everyone involved in that project.
-
Seriously, if Raimi makes 4 or 5, this is the direction he should go in:

word.
-
why throw in a shitty weakness like the noise thing? makes no kind of sense, other than to wrap up the movie.
-
i'm pretty much over superhero movies except for batman and a few others
-
I'd dig an Ultimate Spider-Man movie, set more in the high school, with Flash Thompson being a major foil.
-
he always managed to avoid it in the first two, but you just knew one day he would go overboard and the corny shit would sneak out. and boy did it ever.
-
Three stories and out. Wrap everything up with a pretty bow and leave nobody guessing. Now we have to watch the long, slow decline of the Spiderman image, just so Sony can sell some more Playstation bundles. Sad.

AVENGERS project? it's called The Avengers initiative you nerd!!
by ludmir88

-
the only reason you get on here is to disagree with folks. i'm on to you.sure, Doc Oc not getting knocked out by Spidey bugged me too, but in no way did that eclipse the overall badassery of #2.
-
The sexy train left Kirsten Dunst at the station long ago.
-
But not Lucas.
-
yeah, right after Interview with the Vampire. and yes, Natalie Portman is hot in the Professional.
-
"Not a great story, but still better then Spidey 3."word.
-
spiderman 3 ruined it for me! I'll be interested only if Chris Tucker gets to play the Shocker.
-
...he did Robocop 2, and that was one of the all time worst movies ever released.
-
When (not if) they decide to do a Spidey 4, I hope they'll do a creative overhaul. Raimi is great when he's allowed to experiment and I think we saw with Spidey 3 that he kind of has done all he can with that character. Bring in a new director and a new cast. They're changing the look and feel in comics all the time, so why can't we do that with movies?
Spidey 1 was a fun movie, but I think it is a tad overrated because the Green Goblin just was a weak villain for it--that end fight was just weak. Spidey 2 is a classic and the freshest of all. The third just is average; the fights are fun although the climax just feels like a rehash of what we've seen before. Too much crying and soap opera antics. And dancing emo Peter (now with kung fu grip) is painful to even remember. -
yikes! not one but two sucky Spidey movies to avoid.
-
John Malkovich as Myseterio.
Danny Trejo as Kraven.
CGI for the Space Werewolf/Jameson
Fucking up the ante with four villians this time.
And ANYBODY besides that stupid blonde twat for MJ Watson. -
I was thinking about it today, and i think it is going to be pretty good!!! they go to fucking MARS people!!! and they bust heads in VIETNAM!!

Marvel is never going to get X-Men or Spidey back, huh?
by blindambition238
Apparently as long as Fox and Sony make a movie ever 5 years they get to keep the licenses.
-
Raimi must've been high. Thank goodness he didn't get his corny-ass hands on the Hobbit!
-
Please, the first movie only came out a few years ago. A remake is way too early. People like you just reinforce all these insipid Hollywood remakes.

What I want to know is, will we get to see Iron Man dance?
by rock-me amodeo
that's what I'm talking about.I hear in the sequel, he does a great robot, then immediately launches into the dance that Rerun used to do on Good Times.High concept stuff.
-
Get rid of that annoying rat faced bitch Dunst.Tobey? maybe unless he's busy helming that robotech movie we have been hearing about.
No more Ben Parker flashbacks or street disco/emo/jazz parker. And most importnatly, atleast two villians maybe Scorpion and Electro.I would suggest Patrick Stewart as Vulture, but who wants to see a bald guy with green wings?A cameo by Daredevil/Matt Murdock would be cool also.Yeah, I'm curious how marvel studios would handle spidey once/if sony releases the properties back in their hands. -
think that's what they might be called. don't actually see them doing things again with the same cast, except maybe the daily Bugle people, and Aunt May. otherwise, they REALLY need to reboot this series. thanks Sam Raimi for having opened up film to comics, it's really helped projects like IRON MAN come along. hopefully someone as talented takes over, and tries something new.
-
Oh, and it's time to recast Peter and Mary Jane as well. Keep everyone else, though.
-
Spider-Man is fine and all, but he cannot fly. He is not sarcastic and yet charming. He will not at some point fall into alcoholism. Iron-Man is the future! Now, if they're going to do more sequels, I say it's about time they Schumacher the shit out of them. We've had a couple of good Spidey films, so how about some preposterously bad ones. I know most of you nerds hated part 3, but it wasn't Batman & Robin bad, which is what I want from a Spider-Man 3 and/or 4.It is time, I think, for Freddy Prinze Jnr to don the spidey suit. It is time for Lindsay Lohan to stand at his side as Mary Jane. And it is time that Jack Black played a villain of some sort. Also, they should redesign the costume. You know, to make it gayer...
-
I'm going to agree with the others who have already said it. All three of the movies pretty much suck for various reasons, but Spidey 3 is the only one that isn't BORING. Emo Peter really isn't that annoying to me (you all seem to like his fight with Harry), Sandman was a cool villain, and the Gwen Stacy stuff was cool. The only part that really truly pisses me off is some of the Mary Jane stuff and of course how Venom is forced in there. If they bring Venom back for the fourth one, then almost all will be redeemed and the end of Spidey 3 will make much more sense. I hate to say it but Spidey 2 is by far the worst. Doc Ock sucks as a villain and the whole movie suffers from piss poor pacing.
-
alcohol is the cause and solution to all of life's problems. Tony realizes this!
-
Is an inspired choice for Mary Jane. She's a dumb bitch in real life, but she's a good actress on screen. And she's fucking hot and has red hair.
-
..no dewey-eyed wet-rag performance from your peter!! no phoned-in half-assed mary-jane!! no lame PS2-standard CGI!!! NO DAY-TIME SOAP ELEMENTS WITH 3 SECONDS OF THE TITLE CHARACTER!!!! Seriously, if there was any franchise in need of a reboot after that abortion that was Spidey 3...........
-
How's that for casting?
-
Actually the sound thing wasn't just made up for the movie. The belltower scene is old school.
-
You beat me to it. Actually, the sequence with Pete defeating the symbiote in the belltower was almost shot for shot, from the comic, and as such, it makes perfect sense for Spidey to defeat Venom that way. A punk ass villain like Venom should have a punk ass weakness like sensitive ears. Also, re Spider Man 3: The film got a lot of things right, i.e. plot points, character motivations, "Evil" Pete being completely uncool... However, it was WAY too much to fit into one film, and everything suffered for the over-stuffing.
-
spiderman played but the lead actor in the lookout, i think his name is joseph gordon-levitt and kristen bell for mary jane or will ferrel
-
You like Spidey 3 and you think Lindsay Lohan is hot. Are you and BraneRobot the same person?
-
yes.favreau liked enough of it to rip off a bunch of scenes from it.
-
I don't follow his career that closely, but I haven't heard much of him outside of SpiderMan anyway.
-
i love you. are you Jewish? cuz i love Jews, too.
-
I couldn't care less if they ever make another one.
-
Compared to the lame villians that comprise the Spiderman gallery, Venom is better than most.
-
Now that Venom has been used where exactly do you go? Lizard? Electro? Which story could arc two movies? Very interesting to think about. I agree with most of you that Marvel should take control or get rid of Avi Arad, who btw is the reason SP3 sucked.
-
and I'm in!
-
I'd love to see Favreau's take on Spidey, but he has his own franchise now. Would be kinda interesting to see a "loose canon" like Robert Rodriguez (can't believe I just said that) do a big budget Spidey movie, but I don't think he can handle it. Hey, as long as it isn't Ratfuck. Zemeckis would be great, if they can manage to drag him away from mo-cap.
-
apart from Superman the Movie and The Rocketeer of course.
-
Were watching the same movies? 3 was boring to shit, story was god awful, emo peter, and not enough focus of the villians, and if you say venom was awesome well....just fuckin throw yourself off a building. 2 was a masterpiece, one of the best superhero movies of all time
-
Electric Boogaloo may be in production in a couple years. You're welcome, and if you use this, call me Thrillho77.
-
Worst movie ever and I have seen a lot of shit out there.
-
I'd like to see a reboot, this time with The Electric Company's interpretation of the web crawler.
-
use "Little Man" technology to turn him into PP. Hell, RDJ for every superhero alter-ego out there, except Donald Blake.
-
make him Donald Blake too.
-
What are u a comedian? I love the jokes.
-
I'm with you, man. Spidey 2 = Masterpiece = hahahaha! Some of you guys have some low fucking standards. Spidey 2 was the reason I had no interest in 3, so there. Masterpiece my ass. Raimi needs all that Sony money taken away so he can get back to making good movies.
And to whoever said it above, a Rodriguez directed Spidey film would be a great idea. -
a lot of ppl want to see spidey again. spider-man 3 was terrible. i'm still waiting on a comment from raimi about it.
before spidey 3 i couldnt imagine a recast. now i want one with mary elizabeth winstead in it as mj. hopefuly in tight jeans. and they work a porno story arc for her. -
100% right...marvel needs to take this series back from sony. sony did their thing and it was fun, but its time for marvels to take control of spidey and finish out the series with style - while they still can. i'd like all the players to stay the same, they just need to reign the story in and move forward.
-
...Than watch Spider-Man 3 one more time. It was AWFUL. I felt INSULTED by it.
I'd go for Shia as Pete. They need to stop worrying so much about the whole ORIGIN STORY and start making films that start out with the hero already-established. Drop us in New York with Spider-Man fighting the Shocker. BAM. POW. JIBE! The Shocker gets beat, and Pete gets no respect and we start the story from there.
If Sony is hanging on to Spider-Man, and Marvel would still like to use him in their films, why not just change him around. The Marvel fans will forgive a change in order to get a more loyal Spider-Man on film. Make him the Scarlet Spider, or hell-- Never say his name. Use the original costume (black & red) or the black non-symbiote costume (which Sony didn't really use, actually. They made their own version.) Call him "The Spider" or just "SPIDER" and we'll get it, and deal with it, as fans. Stick him in a cameo in one of the other Marvel Studios flicks, and we'll love it. Especially if he has a sense of humor and Mephisto is nowhere to be found. Hell, make him a real teenager like in Ultimate... That would be fine, as long as he's got the look and the wit. -
Too many villains, too many storylines, too liitle regard for pacing, too little regard for the audience - I mean was it really necessary to rewrite the fiorst movies own history and have Sandman be uncle Bens killer? Why was that even remotely necessary? Terrible writing, terrible direction. Spidey 2 rocked. It was the character of Spiderman full on. The supporting characters came to life (yes we all agree Dunst was a terrible choice for MJ), and it felt like a Spiderman movie should feel. It had humor and just the right amount of pathos. Doc Ock was always implausible when it came to standing toe-to-toe with the power of Spiderman, but given that, Molina was sensational in the role. It was a truly great achievement in comic book adaptations to movies.
-
Are Carnage and Lizard. I'm not saying thats the best choice but I think thats what is going to happen.
-
May 23, 2008 12:20:22 PM CDT
I agree, Spidey 2 is one of the best superhero movies ever.
by knuckleduster
Here's something that really annoyed me about Spidey 3. In the comics, the symbiote comes from another dimension (I think. It's been a while). Granted, the Secret Wars (?) storyline is a bit much for a movie. Now, in the cartoon, Jameson's son (the astronaut) brought it back as a sample they found while in space. That was the perfect way to do it in the movie! They had already established Jameson's son coming back from Mars or wherever in the second movie. So why not do that? Instead, the fuckin thing just happens to crashland in the same park where Pete and MJ are. It's just one big coincidence? Lamo.
-
wow. i've hated shia until now but shia as peter parker seems like it's worth the risk. but he just seems to inexplicably look like a teenager all the time and parker's gotta be an adult by now.
-
WAS as bad as batman and robin. i hated it. i refuse to watch a single scene of it again.
-
I don't wanna know. The longer time passes, the more flaws pop up in this series. Put a shotgun to this franchise's head before we get another Batman & Robin. Kill it now before it really goes off the rails.
-
Main villian would be Kraven The Hunter....but there are several secondary villians as well, vulture, lizard, rhino, scorpion, maybe human fly. Have the story be that Kraven has tracked them all to New York and his hunt is causing chaos in the city, therefore , spiderman is not only having to fight against the several enemies, but agains Kraven who, once seeing spiderman in action realizes that spiderman would be his only true test to capture
-
Seriously, I wish the Gen-Y kiddies would stop fanwanking over Venom and Carnage. Those two characters are the worst examples of 90s comic book characters in existence. Cheap knockoffs of the T-1000 mixed with the tired old "evil clone" cliche.
Venom only RECENTLY became interesting in the comics, when they killed off Eddie Brock and let Mac Gargan (the Scorpion) become Venom. He's got more depth, pathos, and character than one-note Brock ever did. -
Can we get some fucking quips please? Spider-man is supposed to be funny when he's fighting the bad guys. This "I've got the weight of the world on my shoulders" thing only really works if it's balanced with some fucking humor. Oh, and hire another actress to play MJ. And make MJ less of a cunt in this on than in the last one. Maybe she'd stop mouthing off so much if she realized that Peter Parker can put his fist right through her skull.
-
Not extradimensional. And without the Secret Wars, it makes no sense. It really didn't make much sense back then, either.... It's always been a stupid, stupid idea.
I want the old rogues' gallery. Electro. Vulture. Kraven. Mysterio. Rhino. Scorpion. Hydro-Man. Hell, even the fucking KANGAROO would be better than another lame-ass symbiote. -
Perfect time to introduce the Spider-mobile!
http://tinyurl.com/57wfgd -
Mary Jane should always be hotter than Kirsten Dunst on her best day.
In a perfect world, Topher Grace and Laura Prepon wouldn't have been Eric Foreman and Donna Pinciotti, but Peter Parker and Mary Jane. -
come back from your lunch break and call me a snob and a libtard.please.i'm bored as shit over here.
-
That 'sound' Spidey made in Electric Company was odd.. he was like Charlie Browns parents..
-
Spidey 3 was Avi Arad's fault for forcing the Venom point, not Raimi's (Remember: Raimi said that he would NEVER do Venom when he started the series). So many of you just don't understand how the process works when you make a movie that has so many different people that have a hand in the decision-making.
My biggest problems with SM have been Peter's lack of clever quips, just about every outfit sucked, MJ knowing who Pete really is by the 2nd movie, all the Venom-related parts of #3 (Knuckleduster, I hears ya!), and the other missed opportunities (Conner/Lizard, Jameson, Jameson Jr., etc)
The video game for SM3 was spectacularly better than the movie. At least it had many of the classic villians in it, with decent plotlines.
I hope that they film 4&5 together (like they should have done for 3). I don't care if it's recast (except for Jameson), I just hope that the can tie up the loose ends (Pete's landlord's daughter? WTF???). I also hope that Avi Arad doesn't poke his nose in any other Marvel franchises (which is kinda like saying I hope the world stops turning, I guess). AVI - I pray that the debacle you've forced on us has taught you a lesson! If a film-maker is successful in the first 2 movies of a franchise, don't threaten to pull the rug out if a certain character isn't shoe-horned into the 3rd movie at the 11th hour. -
Or screw the whole thing cause the last one was a total mess of "Southland Tales" proportions.
-
I'll have to agree to disagree about that one. NOTHING is as messed up as Southland Tales was. Holy crap, the money invested in that POS has to be around the same as Waterworld, but so, so, so, SO much worse. Really. If you saw Southland Tales and know what it's about, other than how to make decent actors look really bad, or how to spend $60 million and have very little to show for it, please let the rest of us who've watched that pile of dung what it's about.
-
Forget the bad guys in suits. Lets have Spiderman fighting organized crime. Possibly fighting a gang war between Kingpin and Silvermane.
-
(know) what it's about.
Oh, and there was a 'the', that should have been a 'they' in my previous post, for the Nazis out there (you know who you are!). -
Looks fucking awesome. When are we going to get a review for this thing?
-
You shoulda played the video game for SM3. It had a bunch of gangs and what-not.
-
even though it fucking sucks, it made a shit load of money. People buy this shit like they buy
George Luca$'s table scraps -
Right age, right build and believe it or not he can do drama as well a comedy. It's time for Peter Parker to grow out of that awkward phase, he's not a teenager anymore. Now bring on the Kingpin or throw in a little Scorpion. Just say he's the product of one of Tony Starks competitors. I'd say do what they did in Ultimate Spider-Man but that would take way too much exposition. And I'm still waiting to see that plotline continue. I see a really messed up father/son thing with Nick Fury in the future.
-
That trilogy "rule" is bunk, I says. Bring to the big screen as many Spider-man Movies as humanly possible.
-
Yes, Dunst has to go. She simply doesn't 'work' as MJ. Mcguire was fine in the first two, but he's looking too young now. As for SPIDER-MAN 3 being the worst film? Not at all. Disappointingly poor compared to 1 & 2, sure. But there have been worse. Remember the soap opera HULK movie? Or the awful made-for-TV CAPTAIN AMERICA flick? The new HULK? Marvel is deservedly making so much money off IRON MAN that even if HULK tanks, they'll still be laughing all the way to the bank.
-
If so, good. He wasn't interesting and was just another super-strong psycho. I also agree that Scorpion/Venom is much more interesting than Brock, especially now that he's working for the good guys.
-
Same mistake DC did in allowing the Joker to be killed off in the 89 Batman movie. Killing off Green Goblin AND Doc Oc has taken away good story potential, (sinister six anyone?!) The butterfingers of Avi Arad need to be kept away from any Marvel project. PS: Incredible Hulk will suck bad. The CGI isnt even near the standard of Ang Lee's movie.
-
May 23, 2008 2:56:36 PM CDT
Is it me, or the fact that Incredible Hulk actually looks good.
by stalkeye
I've been in Lee's defense for the longest. But the Hulk reboot has potentual, well atleast it will please the anti-Ang Hulk critics as it's less esoteric and no hulk dogs or plasma tv jellyfish either.
I'm having second thoughts, but will reserve judgement until after I have seen the movie. After this no more hulk movies as marvel should focus on other projects like Cap,Thor and hopefully Iron fist. -
of the franchise, but it'd be cool to see what Marvel Studios could do with Spider-Man.
-
I know McG is a little busy and Tim Story still needs to crap out another FF.
-
You really just have to wonder what the fuck happened. It can't be Raimi's fault. I mean - if you compare it to what are typically regarded as "bad" Raimi movies (Crimewave, The Gift, Darkman) they're all fucking Citizen Kane next to Spidey 3.
-
Shia LaBEEF, Jake Gylenhall, Topher Grace
-
the clone saga and ben reilly and doc-ock & aunt may getting married and cosmic spider-man since all these old stories aren't any lamer than spider-man 3
jake gyllenhall as peter parker and bring back opie's daughter as mary jane -
Here's what i don't get. Are we ever going to see movies of these superheros in glorius 2-D animation. It is very possible for a computer and animators to develop a movie that takes the drawings of Kirby, John Romita, Sterankco and others and animate it. If you remember the animation of Doug Wildey on the old Johnny Quest cartoon shows, very lush backgrounds, phone handsets held by the villians, etc. all having a photo realism to them. If people can add to the coffers of computer animation (ala Pixar), with funny animals, why not serious animation. i'm talking to you Marvel Studios! You may find all ages going to these more than you might think. then again, maybe Japan IS more enlightened than we are.
-
and then spiderman 4 will have some hope.
-
2 , 3, it dont matter which one.
-
It's basically the same story over and over again. Meet new villian, fight, Spidey wins. Blah Blah
hey for some real creativity check out this great new blog on blogspot. it's called thebitterproducer -
anyone else catch that confirmation from marvel studios that captain americas shield was seen on tony starks workbench in the background when he was trying to get his suit off after kicking some terrorist ass.
-
u occasionally get a base hit with ur comments but u swing and miss quite a bit too..... venom and carnage predated terminator 2 by quite a few years....so u cant call them the "cheap knockoffs" now can u ? and GATSBY(wierd gay name dude, really) your first comment about the "sound thing" proves u have no clue when it comes to spider man....venom being affected by sound is well known , especially the clock tower scene....came straight from the comics....i personally liked all 3 movies....but i agree that SM3 was overloaded ...that was the only thing that was wrong with it...that being said, id like to see sony give the rights back to marvel and see what they can do with it...even if they have to give sony a cut of the profits.....would be in their best interests
-
yes , ive got "the last boyscout" on VHS ..always thought that movie begged for a sequel, didnt u ?
-
so direct to tv movie with a live action series while the spider franchise is still hot might be the only way.
-
Make the villians the Sinister Six. Yes, bring back Doc Ock. Would love to see the Vulture, Mysterio, Kraven, Electro, Sandman, and Doc Ock go after our hero. Make it with a TO BE CONTINUED tag on the end of 4. Film them together.
-
The Sinister Six kidnaps Sam Raimi and tortures him by forcing him to watch Spider-Man 3 while getting a Draino enema.
-
absolutely nothing to do with the making of these movies. I'm hearing some very silly ideas - Carnage: nobody cares; sinister six - too many villains; reboot - why, 1 and 2 were good, why not just tell new stories; crying about him not making jokes, this isn't the comic books, guys. Lastly some of you lot don't seem to realise that the unmaskings especially in 1 and 2 are essential, as we need to see his face as otherwise the scenes have no weight- may as well be a pixel. That's why although he shows Supes-level strength, the train stopping scene in Spidey 2 works so well - we can see just how much it hurt. Oh and lay off Raimi.I think new blood is a good idea but overall I doff my hat - good effort, sir. If you return, I will shed no tears. Get this clear, Spidey has always been about love troubles, money troubles and battling garish villains - always. So deal with it. And lastly, not so fast with the deification of Marvel Studios based solely on one good film,Iron Man, trust me this Avengers film is very ambitious but it is doomed to fail. Thor and Cap won't work, the latter especially will either come off as deeply silly or borderline offensive. We shall see,I may be wrong. Btw, Incredible Hulk has two fatal flaws - 1. 26-minute brawl between pixels: pointless 2. Norton can only play Norton, do you really think this man is Banner. 3. Liv Tyler. Unless the reviews are awesome, I'm saving my money for TDK.
-
Here's the secret to a good sequel: don't make it a sequel. Just make it a self-contained story featuring the same character in a different setting and a different context. Fulfill or exceed expectations and maybe add something new. Rinse, repeat. Case in point: James Bond. There are even more examples in genre fiction (Horatio Hornblower, Sharpe, Bourne, etc.) Finally, keep it self-contained.

-- that's your Peter Parker for the fourth go 'round. This series got off on bad footing from the get-go. Wrong director, miscast actors, poor effects, dopey character design (Green Goblin), and bad writing to boot. Re-set for 4. Need a brand new team. John Romita's Parker...go. And pay some respect to the stories fer Chrissakes. Remember when "Stan Lee Presents" meant something?

The Lizard. Electro as a twist in act 3.

I can't possibly read it all, but I feel happy that I've added my nerd-soup opinion to this foul cauldron of pop-culture mag-ma. You complete me.

Me not.

Anyone who thinks fanboys should make comic movies should read t
by lettersoftransit
...and they'll think again. To read many of the posts here you'd think the Spider-man series was an unqualified disaster instead of a multi-billion dollar success. That a good cast was a bad one and that pretty women were actually pigs. Note to development teams: It ain't necessarily true to the comic just because a fanboy says it is. Just like it won't necessarily appeal to people outside the fanboy uni just because you ignore them. In the end you gotta have good instincts, or find someone who does. But it's not true that nobody knows anything. (yeah, I know Goldman said it; but it's still wrong) For writers that just a complaint they make hoping you'll leave them the hell alone. And for execs that's just an excuse made by the ones who know deep down they don't know what they're doing and don't want to have to compete against people who do.

I would assume that someone else has already mentioned this, but do any of you get the feeling that Marvel is laying the foundation for a massive post-Avengers crossover? We know that an Avengers film is in their plan, but is it also possible that they're laying the foundation for a "Secret Wars," "Civil War" or "Secret Invasion" to follow? Even though McGuire is getting older (and increasingly more expensive), he could likely pull-off one more movie. I just have the feeling that Marvel's strategy goes past 2011, and the organization's executuives are positioning the company for more innovative projects after the next 3 years...

With an older Peter Parker--no teen sh*t

John McCain as the Vulture and Obama as Venom. They battle each other to the death when they both fall into a huge vat of BS.
-
Babera Walters could play MJ and Sam Ramai could play the homosexual director who builds up a frachise for the first two films then completely takes it all away for the third...wait a sec...oh
-
that Carnage will be in! Rami dropped the ball big time. I can wait a few years before Spidey 4 is vomitted to us.
-
Would be very cool is FF, Iron Man, Hulk, Spidey, Ghost Rider etc. all could somehow have little hitns that they take place in the same universe...

It should be so.

-
...with nipples thanks to a Joel Schumacher reboot of the franchise...Clay Aiken to play Peter Parker...Carrot Top to play Mary Jane Watson...Betty White as Aunt May...Dick Cheney as J Jonah Jameson..The Gieco Lizard as the Vulture (you thought Id go for the obvious but I FOOLED you)and Jerry Mathers as the Beaver.

MUST BE ONE VILLAIN PER MOVIE.
As proven by Spiderman 1 & 2, which had tightly focused storylines with time to develop villain and hero.
Part 3 sucked becuase of overcrowding, and with so many villains the audience wasnt given a chance to hate them properly or give a damn when they got defeated.
I dont care which villain is in Spidey 4, it could be Lizard, Electro, Mysterio, Carnage... Whatever. But PLEASE can it be just ONE VILLAIN this time?
-
Some dude named cleric said Spidey's villains were lame. He has, hands down the best. Batman is 2nd. And to be clear, Spidey is not a geek. He is a nerd. Nerd's are smart. Geek's can be dork's. Dork's are not smart.

It rarely works (with the exception of LOTRs). Each movie should be a lone work of art.
Hey movie fans check out this funny new movie blog on blogspot called thebitterproducer -
