THE SOPRANOS prequel gets a new title

Freddy Beans, with news on THE MANY SAINTS OF NEWARK, prequel to THE SOPRANOS via indiewire.

First bit of news is that the working title is now simply NEWARK.   Definitely feels like a good move.

Warner Bros. also announced NEWARK will hit theaters September 25, 2020.

David Chase wrote the prequel which will be directed by Alan Taylor (THOR: THE DARK WORLD).

Set in 1960’s Newark during the African-American and Italian community riots.  NEWARK follows Dickie Moltisanti (Alessandro Nivola) the father of Christopher (Michael Imperioli) from THE SOPRANOS.

As reported earlier Michael Gandolfini will be playing a younger version of Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini).

It’s like GODFATHER: PART II’s ghost of Christmas past.  We follow our young mobster during his formative years.  Informing us on the kingpin he becomes.

Are we ready for that black screen ending for NEWARK?

I know it’s damn near a year and a half away but anyone else out there getting excited for this one?

 Til the next time Kids
