Jason Blum to resurrect Todd McFarlane's SPAWN!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Todd McFarlane took to Facebook today to announce that a new Spawn movie was finally coming and that none other than Blumhouse was going to produce it.

This will be the first real attempt to bring Spawn back to the big screen since the notoriously not-good 1997 adaptation. I'll still give some props that one for really going for it with that creepy John Leguizamo Clown makeup, but it's still hard to get through.

It has fared better in the animated space since then, but now that R-rated superheroes are all the rage again (thanks Deadpool and Logan!) it makes sense that Jason Blum and his team would want to revisit this bleak, dark anti-hero.

Blumhouse can deliver on the grit required to tell this story. A Purge vibe is pretty close to the tone needed here. It just can't look cheap. The '97 movie had some real money behind it, but still came across as cheap.

Anyway, that's the news! What do you guys think? Are we ready for a new Spawn feature film?
