When NBC announced the sitcom “Powerless” last spring it was to follow non-superpowered insurance company employees who live in a universe inhabited by Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Supergirl, Green Arrow, The Atom, Firestorm and all the other characters found in the pages of DC Comics.
Now the characters played by Danny Pudi and Vanessa Hudgins work for something called Wayne Security, which is not an insurance company.
Alan Tudyk’s character has been transformed into Van Wayne, who is likely unaware than he is Batman’s cousin.
In 2014 NBC had no luck with DC Comics’ “Constantine”; it met with terrible reviews and abysmal ratings and was the only one of the four DC Comics series launched that season that didn’t get a second-season order. It didn’t make it past 13 episodes.
This time NBC is using “Powerless” to combine DC Comics with Ben Queen, who created 2014’s “A To Z," which met with terrible reviews and abysmal ratings and didn’t get a second-season order. It didn’t even make it past 13 episodes.
