I’ve not yet seen “Rogue One” but among the 2016 movies I’ve seen this year, Kenneth Lonergan’s “Manchester By The Sea” is the best so far.
Lonergan was also the guy behind “You Can Count On Me” and “Margaret,” two other A+ entertainments.
The Broadcast Film Critics Association, which votes on the movie side of the Critics Choice Awards, just announced its 2016 best picture nominees:

Hacksaw Ridge
Hell or High Water
La La Land
Lion
Loving
Manchester by the Sea
Moonlight
Sully
Last Thursday “Manchester By The Sea” was also named best film by the National Board of Review (which is not really a critics’ association though it does list critics among its membership).
